Reports for Bullitt County, KY

-------------------------------------------
Investigation 9-10-13
-------------------------------------------

Date: Fall 2012

Time: Just before dusk

City: Shepherdsville (address on file)

Witness: Mary Jo (last name on file)

Investigators (Dana and Charlie) met Mary Jo and her family at their residence on 9-10-13. A lighting storm lingered dangerously close so we had to take measurements quickly. Its height was estimated at about 7 and half feet tall and it stood approximately 150 feet from Mary Jo.

Mary Jo and a friend were skipping rocks in her backyard pond when Mary Jo went to look for more rocks. She remembers hearing a grunting sound. “It sounded like a hog,” she explained. When she looked in the direction of the grunts, the grunting stopped. She observed a big, blackish/brown figure standing on two legs in the treeline. The features which were most memorable to Mary Jo: The arms hung straight down to its knees, the head was pointed towards the top, no noticeable ears, a wide/flat nose with noticeable nostrils, and its shoulders were very wide like a football player. We asked Mary Jo if she could recall other details, but that’s all she could remember. The creature never moved. Immediately upon seeing the creature, Mary Jo grabbed her friend and fled inside the house.

Important Notes: On a few different occasions Mary Jo’s father heard very loud tree knocks while hunting in his tree stand on this same property and one evening while standing on his front porch; fresh water mussels are frequently found opened around the pond (although this could be the result of a raccoon); and surprisingly, a confirmed bear track was verified on the property the same year. Based on the track, Fish and Game estimated the bear between 400-500lbs. Coincidently on a separate occasion, Mary Jo did see the bear on the opposite side of the pond on all fours. Mary Jo is familiar with what a bear looks like and due to the creature’s broad shoulders noticed the day she was skipping rocks, this seems more likely to be a bigfoot. Not to mention, the creature was observing the two girls from a tree line standing on two legs and this area has an extensive history of bigfoot sightings which are not published due to confidentiality, including law enforcement and two park rangers.

Phone Interview 10-21-12
-------------------------------------------

Date: Fall 2011

Time: Dusk

City: Clermont

Location: Hwy 245 (exact location on file)

Witnesses: Jason and Ron (last names on file)

Coon hunters Ron and Jason were driving down Hwy 245 when they saw an upright, dark, huge creature run across the road. Both men stressed, "It was very fast!" The creature ran across the edge of the outstretched beam of the truck's headlights, therefore the witnesses mostly noticed its legs. It was said to be very dark in color (maybe black), hairy and "it was definitely running on two legs." Ron and Jason are very experienced hunters and they reassured me, " this was not a bear or deer." I asked if it was uniform in color, or if you could see what appeared to be shoes? They both agreed they did not notice shoes and it was dark and hairy all over. Jason asked Ron, "what was that? and Ron replied, "I don't know, what was that?" They estimated it around 8 foot or maybe taller.

Follow Up: 9-6-2013

About a year ago we (the KBRO) were on an investigation late one evening and came across two coon hunters on a dark, desolate road. They asked what we were doing, and after explaining our intentions, we fully anticipated a chuckle, instead they paused for a moment, then told us about a sighting they had the prior year!

Jason and Ron observed a huge, bi-pedal figure cross the road in front of their truck. It was just beyond their headlights, yet close enough to tell it was massive, running quickly on two legs, dark in color (black or really dark brown) and at least 8 foot or taller. It happened so fast that it was difficult to obtain much detail, however Jason reiterated a few times that it was definitely NOT a person. It never looked in their direction. It ran at a slight angle away from the truck. This stretch of road is paralleled by dense woods on both sides. When they slowed the truck down to see where it went, it had already disappeared into the thick cedar trees. As most typical road crossings, this sighting took place immediately after their vehicle rounded a curve.

We had to pursue Jason, thus it was very nice of him to take time out of his busy schedule to meet us. His story was 100% consistent to the story we heard from both men during our first meeting--never wavering nor adding any embellishment. I found him highly credible. Unfortunately Jason's friend is recovering from an illness and was unable to interview with us at this time. We wish him a speedy recovery and perhaps he might grant us an interview in the near future.

Please describe your encounter:

I was taking a nap on the sofa in my living room when my dog (who was chained up in our backyard) began barking frantically. When I sat up and looked out my back window I saw this creature walking on two legs across my backyard. It was a clear sunny day and there was no mistaking what I saw, it was a bigfoot! I called my husband at work and said "I saw it, I saw it" and he said "saw what?" "The bigfoot!", I exclaimed. He told me to call my neighbor and warn her to lock her doors as it was headed her way.

Describe the creature with detail: 7-8ft tall, long arms, reddish-brown hair

Follow Up:

I've spoke to the witness many times in person. She is a very level-head, nonsense lady. Generations of sightings have taken place in this exact area and her description fits the profile. We currently have trail cameras set up at this location in hopes of obtaining pictures.

Please describe your encounter:

My mom and I were sitting at the pink liquor store at the bottom of Martin Hill almost to Dixie Hwy. As a matter of fact only feet from Dixie. We saw two dogs running loose and watched them investigate a wooded area and suddenly a tall black creature walked across a field. I've never seen a black bear over 7ft.tall. No man I've ever met is 7ft tall or taller. When this creature walked it's arms swayed side to side. The dogs would not go back the same way they came, and acted weird until the creature turned and went in the woods.

Describe the creature with detail: 7ft tall, long arms, black fur

Follow Up 11-3-11:

I spoke to both witnesses by phone. The reason they were parked at that location was to pick up some important papers from her son/brother on his way to work and it was a convenient meeting spot. They first noticed the dogs as they emerged from the woods, one with its tail between its legs. The dogs walked and did not run. No barking or whimpering was noticed. At this moment they watched an 8 foot tall hairy creature walk across the field. It had long black hair and swung its long arms dramatically as it walked. “It walked straight up, not hunched over”. It was too far away to see its face, hands or feet. The head was large and round, not conical. It had “very wide shoulders.” It appeared as if it had just crossed Dixie Hwy near a flood wall. It walked swiftly across the field and into the woods. Both witnesses seemed very sincere and credible.

Please describe your encounter:

“My wife of five years saw this creature when we first met. I have tried to get her to report it but she is afraid of ridicule. She was a senior in high school at the time of the sighting. She lived in a very rural portion of Bullitt County. She had an approx half mile walk from her home to catch her bus. She left her home is the morning around 5:00am, no one else was at home. Her driveway was approximately 200 feet long. As she began walking down the dirt driveway, she observed a very large animal walking on two feet approximately forty yards in front of her. The driveway had woods on one side and a field on the other. The “animal” walked from the field onto the gravel of the driveway. Upon seeing this wife stopped and let out a deep gasp. When she did, the animal stopped mid stride, turned its head only at looked at her. They looked at one another for a few seconds, the animal growled and then leaped into the woods. It could be heard running down into the wooded hollow. She says she stood there is absolute fright until she could no longer hear the animal in the distance, and then ran to her bus stop. She says she would have run into the house but she had left her keys inside, and looked the door behind her. Former residents of the home have reported hearing very strange sounds at night. They described it like a deep dog howl mixed with a woman screaming. “

Describe the creature with detail:

“The creature was about forty yards away. She described it around 6’5 to 7’0 foot tall. It was very well muscled, especially in the chest. The legs appeared to have been canine-like. The arms were long and bulky; she did not see its hands. It had dark brown or black hair covering its body. Its head was similar to a dog or a wolf with a midsized mussel, and ears that looked like German Shepherd's. She said the thing she noticed the most was its eyes. They were a yellowish colored and reflected in the security light behind her like a deer, or dog’s eyes in headlights. She says it was the terrifying, she thought she had seen a bear. We do not have bears here. This thing walked on two legs the whole time. When she let out the gasp, it slowly turned its head to look at her, and seemed unafraid at the time.”

Additional Info:

The area is very rural and wooded. I will send pictures of the area, with where she saw it if interested. I will also try to get my wife to draw what she had seen.

FOLLOW-UP (email): 7-6-10

"Mr. Raymond. Hello and thanks for responding to my report. alright, a little more on this thing. This activity is ongoing but various in intensity. Unfortunately that photo that my father in law had is gone. But i have some strange ones myself, so i'll be glad to send them to you. My wife told me of this thing a few years ago. For the last year, I have been trying to gather evidence of it and trying to catch a glimpse of it as well. This has been going on in a very remote part of western bullitt county. Up until the last year my in law had a HUGE number of cats they took care of. basically they brought a few cats here when they moved here, and there were strays and cats to what cats do, and boom near 35 cats. thats no play up, there were really that many here. that number has went to four. these were for the most part healthy adult cats that just disappeared in the night. I searched the woods around the property. no sign of them. no fur, no blood, no bones. Its seems something has carried them off. It would have to be very fast to repeatedly run down adult cats nightly. They also have dogs here. five beagles tied up in a kennel next to the wood line. almost every night at around 200am they go crazy because something moves though the woods. I have heard this movement. its something large with human like footfall. But the closest I have gotten to seeing it was one night last fall. We had been inside, and not been outside for a long period of time. at around midnight, I heard a cat "scream" a huge thump against the house followed by the dogs going crazy. I ran to the door with a powerful flashlight and opened it. I did a quick scan around the back yard. near the end of the yard there is a tree stump about 6 foot tall. there behind that stump were a set of yellowish white reflective eyes. i stared at them and they stared back. i yelled for my wife to come and look which she did. this thing ducked behind the stump, then it would peek around the side. then hide again, then look over the top again. I don't know but the way it moved seemed intelligent. i have a pair of binoculars that have a slight night vision function, when i looked threw them i could see whatever it was had a large head with a snout. I have no doubt that this was the same creature that erin had saw. we again caught it by surprise. Whats a good time to call. ill have my wife give you a ring sometime this week. Can you tell me what you know about this dogman creature. how many are there. whats there dangers? and how the best way to catch a glimpse of it. it seems smart, which is the most terrifying part of the whole thing. There also has been strange sounds and paths through the woods. Thank you for taking the time to read this, hope to speak with you soon."

(one of many tracks discovered)

FOLLOW-UP (phone): 7-7-10

I had the pleasure to speak at great length with Matt and the witness (his wife). I found both of them to be very credible and sincere. The witness stated that she left her house around 5:00am one morning in May 2005 to catch the school bus. She was a high school student at the time. As she walked down the long, winding, gravel driveway she noticed what at first she thought was a person coming out of the woods about 40 yards ahead of her. However, as it made it's way up the embankment and onto the drive way, she then thought it was bear. She stopped immediately her tracks! The creature got halfway across the driveway and stopped when it heard a gasp made by the witness. It turned it's head and looked directly at the witness. She said it seemed like they starred at each other forever, but it was actually on a few seconds. The creature then made a low grow/moan. The creature was walking upright on two legs the entire time. It stood "at least" 8' tall, had reddish-brown hair (medium in length), it had pointed ears on top of it's head like a dog, a medium-sized muzzle (dog-like), yellowish eyes (reflected from the flood light on her house), long claws and dog-like legs. No tail was noted. It then jumped into the woods and ran off. Because her parents were not at home and her house was locked, she waited until the coast was clear, and then ran the rest of the way to the bus stop. She told her boyfriend when she arrived at school and parents later. It was dismissed as a bear by her parents; however her boyfriend has been intrigued by the encounter and has been investigating the area ever since, finding a great deal of evidence. The witness agreed to draw a sketch of the creature (posted here soon).

FOLLOW-UP (investigation): 7-11-10

We were fortunate to meet both witnesses at the property at 7:00pm. We asked both witnesses to recount their ordeals. Both of their testimonies were consistent with previous reports. Although, the date of the encounter was most likely in May of '05 instead of April of '5; the creature's height was estimated closer to 8' (we had Parker stand where the creature had crossed the road); and the witness recalled a strange rotten smell as she first approached the driveway.

Matt (witness), Parker (researcher) and I (Charlie) hiked until dark looking for evidence. We had to machette our way through thick vegetation to reach a ridge. There's thousands of acres of untouched wilderness at this location (Fort Knox, Jefferson Memorial Forrest converge here). A possible territorial marker was found (a game trail lead up to this marker). Below are a series of pictures of this marker. The main horizontal tree was twisted and then bent over holding down a smaller tree. These were locked together with a third, separate stick.

Other photos taken during our investigation:

Parker demonstrates where the creature crossed the driveway. It's height was estimated at the tree branch above Parker's head. Parker is 6' tall.

The backyard where the owner's dogs bark most nights beginning around 2:00am. The dogs appeared very skittish--hiding or pacing back and forth.

Stump from where the yellow eye-shine would peek above and to the sides. Again Parker is 6' tall.

View after "climbing" up from the creek. We then had to machette our way through thick and unforgiving briars. Although the blackberries along the way were sweet.

We tried cooking some bacon to lure in our subject(s). At midnight we began making a series of tree knocks and whoops. At one point we thought we heard very faint knocks off in the distance. The most significant response was a deep growl made shortly after a whoop. It's hard to hear on the recorder as the crickets overpower the recording (it will need to be cleaned-up). Many unexplained sounds happened through-out the night. On two different occasions we heard two large "crashes" only a few hundred feet from our location. These crashes put us on high alert. At one point, around quitting time (3:00am) we thought we heard "someone" talking off in the distance, kind of like gibberish or Samurai Chatter (source: bfro.net). This gibberish would take place as we were talking. Other strange noises were experienced throughout the evening. On one occassion Parker heard two small rocks hit the bushes and a car parked at the front on the property. We also found a few additional tree breaks/twists and a possible bedding area, but nothing definitive. It was a strange and exciting evening to say the least.

Actuall sketch made by the witness shortly after her encounter.

5-14-11 Woman calls Talk Radio Show. Says husband almost hit a tall hairy figure running across Highway 44 West.

If you know the witness, please have them contact me. I would like to know the full details of this encounter.

Thanks,
Charlie Raymond, Lead Investigator

A second-hand report came in regarding a very tall hairy figure crossing Highway 44 West. This report was heard on a local talk radio show a few years ago. The witness' wife called the radio show. Supposedly the lady's husband would travel to work from Shepherdsville to Fort Knox early each morning. One morning, after about 30mins from his departure, the witness called his wife distraught. He said a tall hairy figure ran directly in front of his vehicle and that he almost hit it. Supposedly it was very fast and so tall, he couldn't see it's head as it towered above his windshield.

Please describe your encounter:

This is the first time i have said anything about what i saw one morning while deer hunting. I was hunting on a farm i had been hunting for a few weeks. From the stand i was in that morning, i always seen a few deer after day break, but that morning i seen nothing. I thought it was weird since i always seen deer there. well i take pics with my phone about everytime i go hunting i took one of me sittin in the tree after i took it i looked at the pic to see a black figure in the back ground i thought that is a deer so i began to slowly turn around. what i saw i will never forget. It was very tall, brown and it was standing on 2 legs, i went for my rifle to get a better look with my scope and it was gone. i dont think it seen me as i was up 20 feet in a stand. after reading on this site im thinking what i saw mgiht of been a big foot. im not one to believe in that kind of stuff. but what i saw was not your everyday thing i will never forget it. this thing was about 70 yards from me so i did nt get a real good look at the details.

9. Describe the creature with detail: '6 to7 feet tall brown hair very hairy standing on 2 legs

FOLLOW UP: 5/6/10

Called witness and spoke with him at great length. He was deer hunting from a stand around 9:00am. Usually every morning he sees deer around this time, however on this occasion it was eerily quiet. He often takes pictures with his phone and sends them to his buddies. He decided to take a picture of himself. After viewing the picture, he noticed a dark figure about 70yds away in the background. He slowly turned his head around to catch a glimpse of a 6-7ft tall, hairy creature standing on two legs. To gain a better view, the witness reached for his gun to view the creature from his scope, but by the time he turned back around the creature was gone. The sighting lasted only 7-10 seconds. He did see it move it's head a little, almost like it was looking around. The witness got the impression the animal was lost. Do to the great distance and short time, little detail could be deciphered regarding it's face or other details. It was definitely on two legs. It was "very" hairy --dark brown, almost black. It had wide shoulders. After about 10 minutes, the witness cautiously climbed down from his stand and ran back to his truck. He did return only once to retrieve his deer stand and has never gone back since. He stated, "It was not like anything I have ever seen before. Every day since this has happened, I think about it. I have never told anyone and want to remain anonymous. I have goose bumps now just telling you the story.

The witness sent me the picture for review. The dark object is too far away and the resolution is poor. He asked me not to post the picture, as his face is in the picture, therefore he is greyed out. He was a little frighten by this creature and asked if they were aggressive. I told him they do try to intimdate on occassion (growls, tree breaks, rock throwing), but for the most part they avoid humans at all costs. Some are curious and when no indication of a threat is present, they may venture very close to humans. At known habitual sights were trust is established, they may even become quite friendly.

Possible structure and tracks found on June 8, 2010 (need Facebook account to view)
